If you keep your eyes open, you may see Josh Rush out and about on his bicycle with an easel and paint in tow as he is wrapping up for a new show. Rush’s scenic, urban plein air paintings have been featured in┬áthe City Gallery many times since the gallery’s 2011 opening, embodying what this exhibit space is all about–celebrating Indianapolis with place-based art.

While this new body of work will include some of the scenes we’ve come to expect from a Rush show, viewers will see something new as well. For this exhibit, inspired by the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, Rush will incorporate┬árace cars painted from vintage photos found on the internet. Painting these cars was somewhat of a challenge for Josh as he has been considering moving his style of work in a different direction.
